A look at Jayden Daniels’ performance against the Chicago Bears
The Good
Let’s be honest, no one is going to remember anything but the game winning 51 yard Hail Mary throw to Noah Brown. It was a legendary play that will go down as the first truly great moment in the short history of the “Commanders.”
Still, there were another 59 minutes and 57 seconds before that play, and Jayden was very good to great for most of it. He completed 21 of 38 passes for a career high 326 yards and a miraculous touchdown. The completion percentage of 55% is a little low but there were several drops on accurate throws. He added 52 yards on the ground.
Most importantly, Daniels didn’t turn the ball over against an opportunistic Bears defense that had 13 takeaways coming into the game.
The not so good
Jayden’s trademark accuracy wasn’t always there against the Bears, as he was clearly still feeling the effects of the rib injury he suffered min week 7 against Carolina. When he missed, it was mostly low and he wasn’t quite able to drive his passes at times, particularly in the second half.
The verdict
The first matchup between Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams wasn’t the shootout that most expected but it certainly didn’t disappoint. Both quarterbacks showed that the future of heir hitherto moribund franchises are in good hands. Still, there could only be one winner, and it was Jayden.
The legend grows.
